With the opening of the museum, du Pont and his family moved to a Regency-style villa built just across the lawn. He decorated his new house with English, French, and Italian antiques acquired early in his career as a collector. Many of those furnishings had filled the du Pont’s Park Avenue apartment for the previous thirty years. One of their friends described the Park Avenue ambiance as very “swagger,� or elegant.

Hickory Chair’s artists have adapted one of the furnishings from H. F. du Pont’s home to create the 21st-century console. The result is a piece of furniture that is certain to become an important part of today’s living environments that emphasize unparalleled quality and beauty.
